Sedona, Arizona, USA. Despite the arid atmosphere, the national forest surrounding Sedona is quite lush, in part due to the proximity to aquifer-fed Oak Creek, and to the fact that I was there in 'monsoon season' (July and August when a strong afternoon thunderstorm may likely occur). The red rocks are beautiful any time of the year. In the center is Bell Rock (locals snakily call it 'turd rock'). To the right is Courthouse Rock, to the left Cathedral Rock. None of these are mountains, as the land settled around them, their tops being the original land surface of the region.
