Smoke plumes from fires across Idaho, Utah and Montana are featured in this image by an ISS crew member while the space shuttle Endeavour was docked with the station. Looking westward toward the horizon, this image covers an expanse from northern Utah to central Idaho with southwest Montana in the foreground. The violence and heat in the area is set in stark contrast to the cold blue serenity of the planet seen from space.
