The mighty Columbia River (The largest River West of the Mississippi) cuts a large canyon as it flows to the sea. It reveals the many lava flows that blanket the far Western US. (Here in the Tri-Cities where I live the lava flows are over 5 miles deep.) The River, at this point, begins its cut through the heart of the Cascade Mts. There are four notable volcanoes in this region, Mt. Hood, which is pictured here, Mt. Adams, Mt. St. Helens &, the largest of them all, Mt. Rainier. All of these volcanoes are asleep or dormant except for Mt. St. Helens, which is active at this time. I've used my soft focus lens here to give the landscape an almost ethereal look!.............. I'm sorry I haven't submitted any images lately; I've been laid up with a wounded back for the last little while. I seem to be on the mend, so I should be submitting more, on a regular basis. I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
