This is an image of the Columbia River during one of its many windstorms. The wind blowing up the gorge from the Pacific Ocean, through the roots of the Cascade Mts. into the desert plains of central Washington can sometimes kick up enough water off of the river to produce a "Rainbow" where there is no rain. The Rainbow extends over the Columbia from Washington on the left bank to Oregon on the right bank.
