A fist-sized bloom I hadn't seen before at the arboretum. They grew sporadically on the ten foot tree among large, almost fern-like branches. A nice combination. I've since found out that this is called 'Royal Poinciana' or Delonix regia. A native of Madagascar that flowers in the spring and summer & can grow to 40 feet.
