A small crab spider in attack position on the petal of a maroon blossom. The front 'arms' span about a quarter of an inch or a little over half a centimeter at their widest point. All crab spiders I've found have excellent vision and are difficult to approach closely. This was shot with a 100mm macro lens and a ring flash. Taken at the beautiful Roth Estates in Nevada City, California. My thanks to Jan and Steven Roth for their charm and hospitality.
