As beautiful as she is most of the time, many huge ships and lake freighters lie at rest in the depths of Lake Superior. The largest of the North American Great Lakes, most of Europe could fit comfortably within it's banks. This is but a small bay along the Canadian North shore, and Superior's water surface area is 31,700 sq. miles. Not a great place to be in a storm.
