1961 - Banks of the Detroit river, and where we used to swim in the 1940's....although it was a few miles upriver and somewhat cleaner. At that time, most of the industries on both sides of the river, (Detroit, USA, and Windsor, Canada) had their factories right on the shoreline.It was convenient for the lake freighters to deliver the coal that fired the great furnaces of the auto industry.
