a few months back I trucked on over to the bay to take in the sunset... everyone was watching the sun sink into the water when this great blue heron flew in, circled and touched down right in back of where I was standing. I don't think anyone else saw this... certainly not the photographer standing up to his ankles in marsh muck with his camera mounted on a tripod facing west... it sometimes really pays to watch one's back, photographically speaking....
