The 150 year reenactment of the Civil War battle at Bentonville, NC comes close to being too real. All reenactors maintained the talk and actions of the period. The battle began and all the movements of the day was shown. Seeing it from a few hundred yards away became very real. This battle was at the end of the war and was an example of the horror of battles. They all played their roles so you could feel you were talking to real people of the times. Working on the photos gave me more insight into the action of the real battles. The smoke was blinding, the multiple actions behind those firing near the lines of their opponents, the vision of giving orders and making movements over the wounded or dead. Initially I thought the players were not being true to the reenactment until I realized that during the battle all were not killed as there would be wounded all over the place for long periods of time before being treated. Being there to see for myself was much more real than any book I've read or video I've seen.
