Took this as we drove up to the lighthouses on the Keweena Peninsula of the U.P

I was told that I missed the height of the fall season by one week, which I had to postpone due to some family issues.

I noted also that there are alot of pines in the area.

I loved this area, not sure If I'll make back up there~ it's a long drive from my friends B&B (all day~ about 6 hours total driving time, so we stayed at a historic manor B&B for one night which was very opulent but the beds/pillows not so good. :)

Here is some info:

Houghton and Hancock, located on US Highway 41, are the main cities in the Keweenaw Peninsula. Houghton is home to Michigan Technological University and Hancock is the home of Finlandia University. The early settlements of Houghton and Hancock Michigan grew up on each side of the narrow end of Portage Lake with Houghton on the south side and Hancock on the north side. Hancock, as well as the northern part of the Keweenaw Peninsula,

The Michigan Technological Univ. is across the road from this vantage point.
