This sub was highly decorated during World War II. She completed 14 war patrols in the Pacific and sinking 23 enemy vessels, making it one of the most successful American submarines of the war. She served through the entire conflict she was commissioned in 1941 and decommissioned in 1946 and now is a museum in Muskegon, Michigan., I took a tour of the inside of this submarine. After reading about it, I just had to actually go inside and I'm so glad I did. To think that she held 16 men in such small tight quarters that were submerged underwater for months of time to me is totally amazing. They slept in bunks with torpedoes mounted on the wall next to them. She held 4 torpedoes both in the the front and back. They also had their gatling guns that could be rotated in many directions. I will be sharing some more pictures from this interesting tour. I'm not a fan of war, but do support our troops, they are there to protect. Thanks for your comments, and hope you find this interesting like I did. tigs=^..^=
