Waimea Canyon is the largest canyon in the Pacific . With its 10 mile long stretch at a mile wide and measuring more than 3,500 feet deep it is a must see if fortunate enough to be in Kauai. The history of Kauai can be seen in the walls and crags of the canyon and there are more than 45 miles of trails with terrific overlooks to walk or hike. I've posted other shots from this State Park but not this one which is near the very beginning of the Grand Canyon of the Pacific and this shows the Waimea river which is what cut the canyon eons ago. It was a misty day when we were there and we were in and out of the sun most of the time with plenty of low hanging clouds. The sun peeked through and lit up one section of the canyon as I shot. This will be my entry for the current contest.
