Early this summer this adult male Black bear decided to take a shortcut thru my backyard, I told him I didn’t care for this behavior. Needless to say he didn’t want to hear it. What I did notice was that he did not have a tag. A lot of the time a tag is visible in one of his ears, it just means that wildlife officials has not counted this one. Two tags mean that he has gotten into trouble. You can tell the male because they have a larger head and a shorter neck compared to a female which is also considerably smaller in size. I would have to say that this fellow is in the 500lb range. A younger male could also be easily identified because they tend to have long legs and a longer neck; they look this way only because they just didn’t fill out yet. Thanks for stopping by.
