This was actually Skinners Saloon, it was next door to the Hotel Meade. It was the local "hangout" especially for the vigilantes and road agents(they were an organization of tough guys). They would relay gold information to gang leaders. There were many killings here. The building had a hand carved bar, but as you see the walls got pretty wet from the rains, so when I visited here, the people in the area were renovation the roof, to make it leak proof. Cyrus Skinner owned the Saloon, he left Bannack late in 1863 and went to Hellgate(Missoula) where he was hanged by Vigilantes. Then this building became a mercantile and stayed as the local store for nearly 60 years.By the way I didn't colorize this photo, these were the actual colours of that day.
