I had never seen this wildflower before visiting my aunt and uncle in Connecticut. Just came across it alongside the road. I thought it was so interesting - something I expected to see in Arizona. I have since learned that it originated in Scotland, and legend says that it was used in large quanities to keep enemies away with it's sharp thorny parts. Anyone from Scotland to verify this?
