Well would it be possible to get the whole archive as a zip?
Cause I love so many pictures here, and my internet isn't the fastest, it takes me forever to download a few, mainly because of I have to open so many pages.
So if I could get them in a pack I'd really appreciate it!

This site is an interactive community, and members and visitors are encouraged to stop and browse the images, comment and contribute. Making packs of artwork available would defeat the interactive purpose, but we're glad you like our stuff!

Not to mention theives would have a field day.

You could get a desktop wallpaper changer and have it cycle through 1000000 photos. =) Imagine that, just with every1 on devart. =O

because I know when my connection is slow I want to change from DL'ing a couple hundred KB at a time to a terrabyte .... none of that yucky HTML getting in the way

It's not my problem I can't download large things, I just have the computer running over night. But browsing the pictures takes my time, not my computers...

Anyway these artworks are definatly worth it, but it was worth asking ;)

Good point..leave the computer running overnight. Like download the top 30 images from your favorite gallery thing. hmm, that would be hard to do [for "caedes"]

Having FTP access will indeed defeat the purpose. The whole point is being able to browse the images and choose the ones that appeal to you. By actually going to that specific image's page, you can leave comments and read a bit more info on the image.

If you consider that the "HTML bits" adds a max of around 30KB (with comments added) then it's not a problem. Also, I have a ropey 56k dail-up connection and it's fine to browse the images and dl the ones I like.

What I had in mind was for, maybe the top ten contributors, can have ftp access to their most commented image catagory...maybe a bad suggestion, but I mean it as a way to reward those who do comment, rather than detract from it in the first place.

I still can't really see the use. Firstly with FTP access you won't be able to see the images until you have downloaded them. So you might end up with quite a few you don't really like that much.

and what if somebody out comments you right in the middle of your download ...

The WHOLE Archive? (LOL) I'd think you'd have to ask P. Maximus (Caedes himself) what he uses for a server configuration...and replicate it + allow for more space with all the posts that occur in the course of 20 minutes...

Actually why not have a paid thingy like webshots does with the software that does the downloading etc, sure would save a lot of piss'n about having to add photo's to the webshot manager :p i for one won't mind pay'n a yearly sub like i do with WS

You couldn't charge people a fee to download the images unless the artists who made them all agreed to it anyway.

@ &KEIFER : The feedback,socialising etc will not change what would change is it would make it more convenient for paid members , at a guess i'd estimate a good protion of visitors here would download a few photo's then leave without commenting etc the hard thing about actuating the idea is the amount of time the admin have ,as i dare say this site is more of a hobby thing and time is precious,unlike WS where it's full time employment, not all photo's at WS can be downloaded page by page,it's mainly editors best pics for the day of around 5-8,the rest are just like here and download is seperate except the software handles the download of per photo and adds them to the manager,it also allows to see your fav members photo's in it's browser etc.

@ samatar : there is a charge tho it's voluntary and at 3 per month is 15-20 cheaper than WS depeding on xchnge rate,and it goes to running the site and improvements

wouldnt you need to get the artists permission to download ALL their gallery? wonder how many would give permission for that to happen..
