WOW.. I have just heard on the news that Steve Irwin has died of a Cardiac Arrest, he was filming Dangerous Creatures and was stung by a Sting Ray... A great loss of an Aussie Icon..
Crikey!! he is going to be missed, I always thought it would have been by a snake or croc not a Stingray.. =( apparently the barb went straight into his heart..
where was that?.. that is so disrespectful.. so what if they didnt like him.. no need to bag him out like that.. and if that moron actually saw the real footage.. he wasnt anywhere near the croc, they showed the world an angle shot.. we saw the real one.. but he still shouldnt have had him in there..
"When I first heard Steve Irwin died I was kind of excited. I was expecting to see a YouTube video of Steve getting his face ripped off by an alligator. A sting ray? What is his wife going to die from? A paper cut? She should die too, she looks like a crocodile."
Noah.. people write things like that about every celeb not everyone likes them and will voice their views regardless, part of life.. best thing to do sweety is ignore it, its not worth reading them..
I would rather live my life as if there is a God and die to find out there isn't, than live my life as if there isn't and die to find out there is.

Heart-breaking......a horrible loss....what a beautiful family they all were together. I hope Terry and the kids will gain strength from all who love them.
Sincere condolences to the family, friends, and fans of Steve Irwin...what a shame...like many others, I got a real kick out of his antics and enthusiasm...R.I.P. Steve and thanks for all the great shows.
I'm absolutely stunned by this news. Steve Irwin has always seemed larger than life to me & to have him die by a Sting Ray barb to his chest is both horrifing & saddening. I only hope his family can gain strength to get them through the coming days from the love of their family & friends.
He will be missed.
I don't mean to sound dissenting...but frankly, I'm surprised Irwin lasted as long as he did....Messing with crocs, playing dangerous games with deadly snakes, taunting poisonous spiders whose venom can kill within a half hour's time...etc....There is a reason why these creepies are left alone, you know...Science and education has already discovered them, and their morbid potentials to humans...there really was no sense in rocking the boat any further...

ron he didn't just do all that, he helped study them, he was a conservationist and did a lot of other great things, he didn't just do things that could've killed him -_-
I'm sorry but i disagree Ron... what he did was bring the dangers and beauty to the world, his simple discriptions, and antics actually got across to kids how they should value and respect the animals and the environment, kids aren't going to sit, listen, watch and understand boring programs on nature, kids have to have something that they will enjoy, watch and listen, if you asked kids today how do they know about the poisonous snakes and spiders they will tell you, they saw it on Steve's show.. I dont think I have heard any say "ohh on I learnt that on the national geographic channel, or by Malcom Douglas....
he spent millions every year on conservation and education not only in aussieland but world wide.. Don't you think that kids should be aware of the dangers and conservation today? because they are the future and whatever way it takes for them to understand at an early age is all good...
i'm sad he's gone, regardless of my opinion of his judgement on occasion. what i liked about him was his respect and love of the wild. almost seems sadly ironic and fitting that this is how he met his end. and, just an fyi..i kinda liked those 'boring' NG specials as a kid, mostly because of how thorough they were, right along with Jacques Cousteu

I watched those and still do... but kids today dont have a long attention span unless its fun.. I think what shocked people most was that he's always careful (even though he didnt look like he was) and that it was expected that a croc or spider would take him.. not a ray..

Yeah, thanks for that link J...I still feel quite saddened by his passing so at least signing the book one can feel like they are doing something to express that where it counts.

I will miss him, He is in Heaven with all those animals he risked his life for. God had a plan for him, and it has been fulfilled. Blessings and prayers go out to his family, and to all of those that loved this great man.
Thanks so much for that link Jac.......it was wonderfully sweet of you. It is at times like this that I completely and fully appreciate being a small part of a world-wide site. It feels good :) Conversely, the loss of Steve Irwin doesn't feel good :( My heart hurts for his family.
Thank you Jacqueline for the link ... I sent my condolences as well to the family. I am still in disbelief ... I always looked for to watching new episodes of the Crocodile Hunter when I am working nights. Steve will surely be missed by so many people worldwide.
hmmm if by popular you mean well known, i'd have to agree. there's alot of admiration for him, and the timing was tragic. unfortunately there might be a smidgen of morbid curiosity tossed in as well....(ie Princess Di)

One of our great Aussie Poets... Rupert McCall wrote this.. I think it sums up what all Steve's fans are feeling...
THE CROCODILES ARE CRYING
Endless visions fill my head – this man – as large as life
And instantly my heart mourns for his angels and his wife
Because the way I see Steve Irwin – just put everything aside
It comes back to his family – it comes back to his pride
His animals inclusive – Crikey – light the place with love!
Shine his star with everything he fought to rise above
The crazy-man of Khaki from the day he left the pouch
Living out his dream and in that classic `Stevo' crouch
Exploding forth with character and redefining cheek
It's one thing to be honoured as a champion unique
It's one thing to have microphones and spotlight cameras shoved
It's another to be taken in and genuinely loved
But that was where he had it right – I guess he always knew
From his fathers' modest reptile park and then Australia Zoo
We cringed at times and shook our heads – but true to natures call
There was something very Irwin in the make up of us all
Yes the more I care to think of it – the more he had it right
If you're going to make a difference – make it big and make it
bright!
Yes - he was a lunatic! Yes - he went head first!
But he made the world feel happy with his energetic burst
A world so large and loyal that it's hard to comprehend
I doubt we truly count the warmth until life meets an end
To count it now I say a prayer with words of inspiration
May the spotlight shine forever on his dream for conservation
…My daughter broke the news to me – my six year old in tears
It was like she'd just turned old enough to show her honest fears
I tried to make some sense of it but whilst her Dad was trying
His little girl explained it best…she said "The crocodiles are
crying"
Their best mate's up in heaven now – the crocs up there are smiling!
And as sure as flowers, poems and cards and memories are piling
As sure as we'll continue with the trademarks of his spiel
Of all the tributes worthy – he was rough…but he was real
As sure as `Crikey!' fills the sky
I think we'll miss ya Steve…goodbye
What wonderfully beautiful and poignant insight this person had to Steve Irwin. The poem is lovely and I am sure will stick around for a long time. Thank you for bringing it to us Jac.
