Guess what I got?
A brand spanking new 19" monitor. :o)
Guess what it came with?
These oh so nifty 1/2 inch black bars on the top and bottom of my wallpapers now. :o(
Like the proportions are all off... Kinda, more square now... Grrrrr

Sure I can change the screen resolution so they fit, but then all my nudi... umm... wallpapers get elongated. So, what does that mean? I have to like, add a top and bottom border (where needed) to all my images so I can once again have a "full screen" wallpaper.
Grrrr... grumble, grumble, grumble... grrrr....

OK.. all better now... </rant off>

Clearify? Just curious. Your saying it's not a 4:3 or a ...uh widescreen? Sounds like you have something like a 3:4 monitor. :S I think i misread.

If you set the 4:3 monitor to a 4:3 resolution, why would anything get distorted?

On my Mac when I am in Windows it uses something called "Ati Desktop" which came as part of the bundle I downloaded which enables me to use Windows on my machine. The ATI desktop app. is what makes the display appear correctly on my widescreen minitor I think, and it allows you to select from several different ratios and resolutions, you should be able to download it for nothing but I'm not sure where from... try the Apple website if you can't find it anywhere else.

unfortunately mandolux doesn't offer that size

try this ... cut an appropriate length of duct tape and place over these totally reprehensible 1\2 inch black border areas (you'll need two pieces) .. that way they won't cause you to lose sleep .. ;o)

windows will "stretch" them .. your image viewer will, no doubt, place an image as wallpaper (irfanview, for example) ... check what options that offers

or ... trade with me .. I have a 17'' monitor that adds 20 degrees to the room ... oh, wait, no .. I don't know what I would do on those 100 degree days without that extra 20

.CurtieBear
09/12/06 8:33 AM GMT
lol @ Keith

You can keep your extra 20 degrees, really. I appreciate the offer though. :o)

However, I don't have any duct tape to spare atm. I, I'll do as I usually do... improvise (i.e. make more/modify wallpapers so they look right.) or just live with em.. hehe

*wonders*
You don't suppose someone mixed up the inches to metric conversions somewhere, when this model was designed.
Hmmm..
*scratches head*

I wanna grumble now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My kitty cat, Squiggy...took ill last weekend..../ kidney stones..../ his bladder nearly burst inside him. This cat...just happens to be the sweetest cat on earth. He would not scratch anyone or anything. I found him in pouring rain/all wet and muddy, when I was delivering mail. I've had him approx 10 years. Never a problem.
Then last weekend...he began acting odd....sleeping in the shower...which is NOT normal for him...then NOT eating...and he is a piggy, so I knew he was sick. Naturally these things occur when it's a weekend or holiday. I was so scared he'd die before I could get him help on Monday morning. He kept looking for dark places...{ to die}.
The emergency place I have experienced took my money and never helped a cat I used to have....so I prayed and waited for my vet { not realizing how bad Squiggy really was}.
My vet has had him all week...and was unable to flush the stones. Poor kitty has had catheters and misery...yet keeps purring. { We visited him daily}. My Vet called around 5PM yesterday. We had to transport Squiggy to the surgery place. The biggest thing that p----s us off...is we were told to transport him asap--otherwise he would not make the surgery roster for this morning/today at all...and would be miserable...with a catheter in all weekend. So we rushed him over...and they charged us 300 dollar EMERGENCY fee because we brought him in after 5PM. Anything between 5PM till 8AM is "an emergency fee".
The surgery is gonna cost 1500.00. { He is gonna have a sex change!} really! The recommended surgery is to actually turn him into a girl cat....so the stones will not cause further prolems if they come back, because he is prone to bladder stones. { NO--putting him to sleep WOULD NEVER BE MY CHOICE} We paid 800.00 total to my vet for his services. Now understand....I would pay any cost for Squiggy.....he is a most wonderful....sweetest cat in the world. NOT a grumble as far as paying for my baby's life and well being. But OMG---the hi-way robbery crap!!!!!!
They said to get him there...and we did...and get slammed with an extra 300. Does that suck or what?

Yup, I goota agree... that one sucks. You'd think if your vet had notified them that Sqiggy was incoming that the "Emergency fee" could have been waived.

Otherwise, you could do a spagetti feed for him. :o) A friend of mine had a cat that was hit by a car, and thats what she did to pay for the surgery to put his leg back together.

Otherwise, I hope Squiggy is feeling better soon. :o)

Hugs Cat....:)
I don't mind paying...for actual services....BUT...my heart breaks for the hundreds who must not be able to afford to save their pets.....
As we sat in the lobby....we saw people coming and going....and several were in tears...leaving with their pets....more than likely unable to afford to save them.
I guess...in retrospect...I am blessed and fortunate to be able to save my pet's life.
And I HAVE been in those other shoes in my lifetime too.....{ unable to scrape those outrageous fees}....:(

So sorry to hear about Squiggy Terri. I had the same problem with my cat JoJo. Everytime I turned around he was getting bladder infections due to stones. They would put a catheter in, relieve his bladder and send me home with antibiotics. The third time this happened, they suggested a diet change and put him on Hills Feline CD which is for this problem. Well, it worked for a few months and then he got another bladder infection. Surgery was the only thing that I was told would remedy this problem. As a last resort I was told that I could feed him Hills Feline SD which is a stronger struvite diet for cats. It contains a lot of salt in it which makes them drink a lot of water, therfore making them urinate even more to keep the urethea open so stones won't settle in it and block it. Well, I tried it and he has been eating it for the last 7 years mixed 50/50 with regular cat food. He has to go twice a year now to have blood and urine tests which is recommended for older pets anyway, but he is doing so good on this diet with no re-occurence whatsoever. I wish they would have suggested this to you Terri but with his problem as severe as it was, unable to flush the stones it may have been too late for this. This may have helped him but you never know do you?. Hope all goes well with Squiggy.

Thanks Eileen...{ and I know you also have had your share of hardships with Jack!}
They tried to flush the stones...but to no avail. The surgery was recommended coz he WILL be highly likely to get the stones again...but the surgery converts him biologically into a female..and the stones will flush thru with no problems...
Thanks sweetie...

err--as you probably have seen in my gallery, I recently went through a very sick kitty incident, but sadly, we had to let my baby go. I am so there with you girl. Do what you need to do to help. If I had been able to afford it, I would have paid anything to save Blue, so I totally understand spending tons of money (although vets suck by charging so much). I'll keep you and your baby in my thoughts.

Curt--so your por, uh, pix are messed up...hey if you take pix of Maliblue Barbies shoes and put them as a wallpaper, those 4" stilletto heels will appear as 6" or 7"...in fact, it would make Maliblue the tallest Smurf...so maybe she'll get a job on the runway...work it

Awww! What a cute little guy! He looks a lot like my little buddy Oreo. Cutest little cat you ever saw. Just 3 yrs. old. I lost him last year due to a bad urinary tract infection. It had crystallized in his urinary tract. The emergency animal clinic down the road toldus it would be $1500 to insert a catheter and do the surgery needed (which we don't have). No guarantees that he would live through it at all. After the vet told us he didn't believe he would survive we had to have him euthanized..= Anyway, I know what you're going through Terri, I hope Squiggy will be okay..=)

Oooo... something new to grumble about... NO internet access (except at work).

So, my roomates daughter and 2 girls move in with us (fell on hard times, which, in of its self, a long story). So, I move my computer up to my room. thinking... "Hey, I have cable access up there". Well, guess what? I don't. :o(

After getting the cable guy up there to checks it out. (Wasn't even a cute one either. Yet something else to grumble about...) And... guess what I found out? That little cable outlet, built into the wall... has NOTHING attached to it. No line, cable or little bit of string... NOTHING!

Now, One would wonder... Why put an outlet in the wall with no wires to it? The cable guys explanation? "Because it looks good, and helps resale values."

You should also put those speaker covers in your house everywhere, without the speakers and wires beneth it. ;-) ...that should add at least 1k to the resale value. Um, what else...oh yeah, if take your ac with you, just leave the closet with the ac in it locked....that will save you 500 bucks for your next home.

...the list could go on, but i choose to read what the other threads have to say... =P
