Thats really beautiful... about 6 months ago my daughter and I saw something similar, we even pulled off the highway to look at it... the clouds we had were a one biggish, thicker cloud and light clouds just above it, which gave it the illusion that it was exploding out of the big cloud.. and typical me didnt have the camera with me =( but it made it in the local paper..

When cirrus clouds are at about 20,000 feet, when the sun shines on them at about 58 degrees, and there are correct numbers of ice crystals in the clouds...did i remember it correctly? =P
