I may need to clean up my act...

I have a camera maintenance question.

I bought my Canon S2 IS in late October, 2005. To date I’ve taken 4,553 images with it and I’ve noticed it seems as though the quality isn’t as great as what it was prior. It seems harder to get shots in focus; the overall quality of the take just doesn’t seem as crisp…stuff like that.

Is there a maintenance schedule to a camera? I mean every time I get done on a shoot I always wipe down my camera, check the lens, etc., but do you need to have the camera serviced from time to time? Such as cleaning the sensor…I read something about that somewhere. Mind you, I’m an amateur and don’t go out in harsh conditions…just basic walkin’ around snapping stuff.

Thanks in advance for any help!!

What is the warranty like for the camera? Maybe that is a way to get it serviced? Should advise you in the manual of its service needs, otherwise it doesn't need more that what you provide it now.

You shouldn't need to clean your sensor. That is a problem you run into sometimes if you are changing lenses and getting dust in there. With your camara that wouldn't be a problem.

Also you may want to see if you can find a settings reset option. It is possible you have fooled around with somethign that you didn't remember messing with that is causing your trouble. Not sure if that is possible or not.
