Hi there kids ! I'm on some kind of Apophysis list where they flood my email consistantly with questions & problems from other viewers. At any rate, I just checked my email & a handy dandy little notice came through that Apophysis 2.05 beta was just released.

So I popped over to Deviant Art & checked Zueuk's journal & sure enough ... the link to Source Forge.

It IS a beta version, so I'm going to assume that somewhere along the line there might be problems, but if you're interested here you go ....

*EDIT* This email just came through the Apophysis Mailing List ....

Apophysis 2.05beta has been released and is set to expire on December 31, 2006. I don't know for certain, but I do believe that the expiration is due to support issues. It takes more time and effort to support several different releases, especially since many releases occur per year and it changes considerably between those releases. Remember, the developers are all volunteers with other jobs in the real world. Anything that makes their job easier is better for Apophysis.

I just left a question on Peter's ( Zueuk ) page, asking if a newer version would then be coming out. Hopefully, he'll answer.

WARNING! Apophysis 2.05 uses new file format which is INCOMPATIBLE with old versions of Apo and flam3. ... The previous "hexadecimal" gradient format has a problem, so we got to change it. So, if for some reason you will want to save flames for use with previous versions - check this option.

whether this applies ONLY to gradients .. I don't know
