Sizing images for lockets

Help anyone, I am currently working on a project for a friend at work.
I am trying to size and image to fit into a locket. The resolution seems to really be affected when I print the image up when it is smaller. I have even tried using an icon creator program, but even still, the image doesn't print up nicely?
Any suggestions pls?|

It should print up all right June. Make sure you keep the resolution at 300 pixels / inch when you change the size.

If you are using photoshop there is a way you can print with preview or something and that will allow you to set how big in inches or cm you want it to print out as. That should give you decent results.

No one wanted to pay to say something in my sig, so i will have to try and think of something creative now...

Perhaps it is scaling the image to fit the media you are printing on? Make sure you check all the print settings to make sure it isn't doing something like that.

why don't you cough up some actual dimensions ... or is it a secret, so that we don't open our own multi-million canadian dollar locket business?

specify original size dimensions (including DPI), + target size, + program used

i scanned it in at 4960x7015 and then cropped it out in photoshop and the results were then at 800x1064. The dpi that I scanned it at was...at the max being 600dpi I believe. The proportions I am trying to acquire are .54"wide by .64"high.
Does this help? Oh and I put it through neat image to smooth out any blemishes from the image being in a wallet.

it is possible that neat image is "mushing" the DPI too much .. try it without that step ...

maybe try "cloning' out the blemishes .. or .. waiting to see if the blemishes are even an issue at the target size

You know what? It turns out that it has to be my printing settings, but I am feeling a little silly because i am not sure what it is that i need to change, lol.

Well try setting everything on the printer and its driver to defaults. I / we could be more specific if we knew what printer and graphics software are you using.

I think that crown may be cutting off the circulation hehe. Well, before I get a kick, try printing from Photoshop. Or is that what you have been doing? Do you want the PSD?
