Fuzzy pictures?

I took some photos of lightning a while back, and I am not sure if it is my camera or my use of bulb photography that is messing it up. I see some of these pictures and there is amazing quality in the shots while my is grainy. Can anyone lead me in the right direction of solving this problem. I'm using an ol' Canon Rebel X 35mm

My initial thought would be that it would be the type of film you are using. One thing you might try is using a lower ISO/ASA rating. The higher you use the more grain there will be. That might not be it though.

Just wondering...do longer exposure shots have more grain? Or is that totally unrelated? (I'm referring to digital cameras...but they should be the same)

I'm using ISO 100 Film, I think that's the lowest they go? (Kind of new at this :D) And I am unsure if exposure shots have more grain, ALL of mine do, but I am also not using a digital camera so I have no clue. : /

Hmm, i was afraid that i would be wrong with the ISO. That is also unfortunatly as far as my film knowledge goes. You may have more luck finding out a solution by checking out some fourms where there are more film guys. I believe alot of the people on this site are digital people.

Different brands i also think matter (that didnt make sense). I also read sum where that slide film has better colors...or something like that...dunno.

Umm, you could try using a medium format camera. >_> ...or not.

What is the expiry date on your film? Also make sure the ISO setting is correct on the camera as it is possible to push that setting higher which would lead to more grain.
