c-index question

I have two images that seem to be pretty decent("Buttermilk Falls", and "Buttermilk Waterfall" if you would like to see). Their c-indexes are 10 and 25. This does not seem right to me considering one had a c-index of 80 earlier today. Any ideas?

I do think maybe something funny is going on with th c-indexes at the moment (see "100 c-index" below) Yours say 53 and 69 now... :-P

It seems that the c-index value is correct only when many people have voted..., I think

all that means is that the margin of error decreases when the 2 problem areas become less of a factor. when there are a lot of votes, the ratio of downloads to views becomes less important, along with how many peeps put it in their favs.

I believe the entire system should be based on votes alone. to base it on downloads or favs is unfair to the designer, because he will always get a lower c-index then what he deserves. for example - i don't think i've downloaded more than 10 photography desktops (and i know that there aren't any in my favs) simply because i'm not that interested in photography desktops. I've given several 10's for photos because of the skill and art involved, but rarely downloaded or saved them in my favs. So why should that picture receive any less acclaim? if i think the skill and art deserves a 10, that picture should get a 10/10 ranking from me, not less because i dun download it.

Sam: I beleive "Download" just means that you have viewed the image full size. So if you have 10 views and 5 downloads, that means half the people have not looked at the image full size.

Even though I am confused by the c-index on some of my images now and then, generally the best images do seem to get the highest ones. I think the system works as well as can be expected, and I don't think it needs to be changed.

i know what downloads are, i just dont see why an image should suffer if someone doesn't take a closer look at it.
