I would rather have a few more pints of Guiness? Ok I admit that I've always got to be the 1st on the block to get all the shiny new software. It does have it's risks, but I haven't crashed my whole system.............YET!!! Besides, I think that Firefox is a pretty safe bet.

I've had various problems with some web pages that dont display correctly in Firefox 2 and I'm reluctant to use it until it is confirmed that its Java security flaws are fixed.
I normally wait a minimum of at least 6 months before installing any new software. By that time most of the bugs and other problems should be sorted out.
In terms of security, for a program such as a web browser, I'd say that's way too long. Phil, if the Java security flaw is as big of an issue as you suggest, why not just disable Java? I've had no problems with websites rendering incorrectly...examples might help.

For years I stuck with I.E, but a few months ago I decided to try out Firefox, and it's been great. I've never had any problems with pages loading or anything. I just downloaded Firefox version 2.0 a few days ago and I've had no problems yet.

Firefox has spellcheck, Hmm... Sorry if I don't jump and download it, my browser, and my Applications (programs) have spellcheck because it is build into the Mac OS for all Apps to make use of, no downloading needed. I have never felt the need to get Firefox, IE, or any other browser, Safari has always worked great for me.
Safari is a great app which is based on the khtml source code developed for Konquer, the browser for KDE desktop for Linux. As for the Java security flaw, I read that it was just a hoax that some hackers made up.
Some bloggers are reporting it as a hoax but this is merely based on their gut feelings as opposed to any actual facts. Both Sun & Mozilla acknowledge there may be serious security flaws in the java scripting and are looking into it. As to the suggestion of merely not using Java – that isn’t really a viable work around – it’s a bit like saying if the headlights in your car break – you just take out the bulbs and pretend everything is fine. That’s a great plan if you only intend to drive around in daylight but occasionally you need to go out at night and then the whole scheme comes apart at the seams.
i think the only conclusion you can come to is that no one browser is perfect or secure - they all suck in one degree or another - a bit like operating systems - so just pick one and get on with it but dont pretend it's any better than the rest :-)
A bit OT but may be of interest to some ........
I use Maxthon and Firefox (still on the last version have not installed2 yet) and unable to view videos in Firefox. It kept telling me to upgrade to Flash Player Version 8 or higher, and I had the latest version installed so was totally confused. I have since discovered that IE7 and Ff use different versions of Flash player and they need to be downloaded from within the browser they are to be used with. Problem solved :)
