Hello moderators - keep awake. I like the fact that new images can be good or bad, and on nearly any topic. Let the voting system sort them out. The fact that it's "nearly any" is important to the integrity of this site. I just saw the first (yes first of thousands) image that I think suggests the poster is quite disturbed. Recent events in North America have shown that some very sick people use the net and various sites to display their illness - and it has not reflected well on the sites when things go wrong and then the posts are revealed for all to see. Vigilance folks!

Maybe providing a link to this image would help the mods.

Considering what I just said, no. We cannot do anything about the individual now, but the integrity of Caedes needs vigilance.

Well if you cannot provide a link, then perhaps it would be better served to PM Caedes directly with the link. Some things here, you may differ with others on what is considered art...and since we are not sure of what you mean, we cannot say we agree or disagree with you on this. I'm sure if something goes through that would be very questionable, something would be done...however if it IS artistic, and isn't harming anyone specifically, whether you or I or the next person finds it disturbing...art shouldn't be censored. If it is kiddie porn, or an image of someone being murdered...no that isn't art...but if it is just disturbing and provacative...well, that's what art is. It isn't always pretty flowers and frilly lace lined images.

Well, this rapidly went where I was afraid it would go. Just keep an eye open, remember integrity of the site. That's all. Lots or room for all kinds of Art, and Not Art too.

You tell of this "infraction" (for lack of a better word), yet provide no links. You suggest we remain vigilent, and keep the integrity of Caedes, yet provide no examples of what you mean or where we are slacking. I suggested to PM Caedes directly, then mentioned that some art may not be pleasing to all...
where were you afraid this would go, that it apparently went to rapidly???

If there is a problem, it is best to contact Caedes.

We here at Caedes don't have any power to PULL an image...only a selected few can, and generally they do their jobs pretty well. So without anything to show us where we have slacked, or evidence of a major infraction, we are all left going...

I apologize if you don't like my response to this thread. My suggestion again, is that if there is an image that is against Caedes rules, please send a PM to Caedes directly with a link to this image.

Don't be so cryptic. If there is an issue, we need to know what it is, and barring this, a thread won't do much...PMing Caedes about this image will.

I have been here for a couple of years, and I havent ever seen anything offensive on this site, if someone does try to upload something like that, it doesn't get approved.. as for "letting us know" about the image that is so offensive to you, Jen (akashastrega) is correct, if you have a concern about it, there is a button on the image that says complain, there you can say what is upsetting about the image and Piner or Caedes will look into it..

I know you have written this thread to warn people, but what is offensive to you maybe fine with others, a link would have been appropriate that way members can judge for themselves if they think its offensive..

Art comes in many shapes, forms and themes, it is creativity and imagination.. there have been many famous artists who have created masterpieces of violence, nudes, horror etc.. lots of the 18th centuary art work contained nudes, violence.. some were pretty horrific, and today they are called classics..

Thank You Jaq for that. I have seen images here that are not to MY taste, but what I consider art--or not art-- someone else may think differently. Some of the great artists at one point or another created something that didn't fit with EVERYBODY.

I too, have been here a couple years, and haven't seen anything that I'd say was outright offensive or blatantly broke the rules of Caedes...and without anything but a cryptic message, we don't know what the problem is.

I already PM'd Piner, and he said he'd investigate further...and we Feisty Tavern Smurfs are all too aware of what a pitbull he can be IF there IS in fact an infraction.

Art is meant to provoke you, to make you think and feel. Sometimes you feel...eeewww...but if the art is not harming anyone, it just isn't what I like...that isn't a reason to censor it...and I don't want Caedes to start censoring things that are not fuzzy bunnies.

There is a complain button on an individual's profile page (I am actively campaigning for a button on the image page as well)

DO NOT hesitate to use this button ... the situation will be evaluated by another pair of eyes and a decision will be made from there ....... it is NOT guaranteed removal ... and you will, of course, remain anonymous

I, personally, would prefer that you do this rather than to leave cryptic, open-ended statements here .. and then get all shy and squirmy over the response

clicking the complain button opens a "comment box" for you to fill out ... it doesn't automatically send a siren to the authorities ..... just state AUTHOR, IMAGE NAME, and REASON ... and there will be a "johnny-on-the-spot" .. mui-pronto

I'm so sorry Aubrey, but I too find this whole thread rather confusing. If you want to warn us of something specifically, then by all means please do.

On the whole, I agree that I don't like censorship in any form. HOWEVER, having said that, I also feel that Caedes might not be the foum for some types of Art. Caedes is a family site, per se, and some things, despite recent TV shows & the plethora of movies, just don't belong here. There are other sites better suited to the more controversial types of Art.

It's certainly possible that we will miss something that another member will pick up. If so, just use the complain button as mentioned above or PM a mod who is online at the time if you feel the image needs to be removed immediately. If there is any uncertainty as to whether the image is offensive or not the group will make a joint decision. Posting a non specific message like this doesn't really give us anywhere to start and the public forum really isn't the place to make such a complaint anyway.

looks like we 'picked a winner' (nose reference) sorry, but maybe it's my built-in nyc cynicism. someone making vague references to 'recent events' and then hurling insults to someone's post without naming anything, or anyone sort of seems more interested in fostering drama than actually obtaining results. you were advised to make your concerns known to those who run the site. when you want to maturely and rationally (key word) explain your concern, i'd happily give it the attention it would deserve, as i'm sure others would as well.

Well, I thought that the linked image was pretty creative and didn't find it offensive...but then who knows if THAT is indeed the image.

With a few cryptic messages we cannot be sure unless AUBREY actually speaks with someone at the site. And Lauren, you're right, some of these images are not so family friendly, but as you said, art shouldn't be censored...but maybe it would serve itself better elsewhere, but that isn't for me to say...as my views will undoubtedly vary from the next person's.

The point is, Aubrey made a cryptic thread then huffed and puffed when the response given wasn't to their liking...Rob said it best, there ARE more mature ways of dealing with issues. Thank you Aubrey for warning us, it's always good to get a heads up...in the future though, it may be better served to contact the "powers that be" here at Caedes.
