It has come to my attention, lately, that some people are unfamiliar with the Mark As Read feature and how it will save your sanity and leave you with enough pocket change for a slurpee .... those that are at peace with their forum skills need read no further
a common feature of forum software is the "new" designation next to forum titles and the individual threads inside of them .. this serves to inform you that there is new activity in that forum or thread ....... but ...... only if you marked the forum as read the last time you perused the pixels per inch ..... otherwise these "new" flags will no longer mean anything
You will notice that there is a "MARK ALL FORUMS AS READ" at the top of the master forum list ... this is the only way that you can remove the "new" flag from the Aediles and Senate forums .. if, like me, it bugs you when you see they're talking about something and it could very well be about YOU
There is also a "MARK AS READ" at the top of each individual forum that only clears that forum of "new" flag peskiness ...
I use Firefox, a "tabbed" browser .. this means that new links or pages can be sent to a tab within the SINGLE browser window = less clutter within my work environment ... I can "middle" click a forum link and send it to a new tab ... then I send all threads I am interested in reading to new tabs and I click the mark as read button ... when I've read the thread I close the tab ... or .. you can just click the master "Mark ALL FORUMS As Read" and be done with it once ... your choice
If NO other activity takes place in a given forum for a week or more you will no longer need to open that forum until another "new" flag shows up .. and then you'll have the "new" flag next to the thread or threads that have received activity ... if they are threads you are NOT interested in .. just click "the button" .. and go toast a bagel
If you found this tutorial helpful, or you are just hungry, looking for the buffet .. I don't care .. reply below .... I get paid by the word .. both sending and receiving .. and THAT explains SO much
To humor the party pooper who complained, I will censor my quote=======
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:: Never hold your farts in. They travel up your spine, into your brain, and THAT is where poopy-ish ideas come from!!
