what are the chances a change/adjustment could be made allowing live edits to images, as well as comments, thereby eliminatingthe need to delete, and then re-submit? i mean little stuff, like shading, lighting, tint, etc as opposed to major overhauls.

any thoughts on the matter?

I agree .. but what do you mean by your use of .. "as well as comments"

you CAN edit comments, descriptions, etc .. just not the image

I have rarely ever re-posted an image because it is unfair to the people who have taken the time to comment

ok, sorry..i meant the same way we can already edit comments. and i actually had intended the edits as compliments to those who've commented, by utilizing their suggestions. i can see how what i said might've been misunderstood, however.
