Movember - Prostate Cancer

Ok i know this is a bit late (for those who know what movember is) because i only just found out about this.
M/November is the month where men and teens (who can) grow a mo to raise awareness about prostate cancer. The general situation is like:

"whats with the mo?"
"it's movember mate, i'm growing a mo to raise awareness about prostate cancer."
"i'll grow one too"

or something like that, i'm trying depserately (e.g. trying not to land on my face and cutting my upper lip) i'm starting to grow one, but it will be a long time before i actually have a mo.

Anyway i would just like to raise awareness about prostate cancer as there are 12,000 cases in Australia found per year due to awareness about prostate cancer.

The only way to find out if you actually do have prostate cancer is a blood test and a physical examination.

I'm not too wise on the situation but those who are i'd gladly encourage you to post

Very well done Dave... thanks for putting out the awarness about prostate cancer otherwise known as daddy killers.. many men are not aware if they have it or not due to the fact that they wont go to the doctors to get checked out...

I urge EVERY male to get a checkup at least once a year, early detection is a life saver... *it's painless*

My dad had prostate cancer last year, so yeah, good thread...get the word out to the guys!! Guys, just suck it up and get yourself checked...a little discomfort could save your life.

Les.. you twisted person..

Jenn, my dad had an enlarged prostate this year and although it's hardly ever fatal, he was still quite unsure as to whther he had prostate cancer or not and was quite edgy until he got it checked out... luckily he didn't have prostate cancer! :D

He is also getting i think 2, maybe only 1, checkup a year due to the fact he has an en-arged prostate (en-larged can be as small as 1/2cm! [ like 2/5" ])

Lol! Good one Warren, odds on if you told anyone in the outside world they'd look at you and slowly back away :P
But it's good that you got a check-up, prostate cancer can be fatal, even if it's only 1% of cases (i don't know the actual statistic... as many of you know, 80% of all statistics given to you are made up :P ) there are still fatalities as it can spread to your bones and create intense pain and some other stuff.

My husband says that all the attention is always on curing women's problems so he should be happy about attention to men on this one. Get yourself checked out men! There is nothing unmanly about ensuring that you are going to be around a while longer.

Kim, that is true...something else that is true...is that men can get breast cancer...little known fact...so guys...get the man-boobs checked if you ever feel something...because just as the "girls" (see Lauren's mamm's thread) can develope lumps in them, so to can the guys boobies...
