I would be grateful for any suggestions on how I may have improved this picture Oh Venus The comments received are all favourable but it c-index of 43 suggests otherwise. There is no other shot of Venus on caedes (that I can find) so I have nothing as a comparison. I was particularly pleased with it myself as I only took four shots and this was the only one that did not include heads of the 100's of other tourists. I spent a great deal of time removing background faults (electrical cord mainly) I confess to being disappointed in its rating although realise the subject would not have pleased everyone. Any suggestions for improvement would be welcomed. I want to learn and improve. TIA for any help. :) :)

Picture Purrrfect . Some people are like slinky's, completely useless but still a lot of fun when you push them down the stairs. 8~O

I think it's an excellent shot but personally I don't like the framing. Maybe there's not enough going on to excite people when they see it in the voting booth? Remember they may be scoring it for it's desktop viability rather than artistic merit.

i would have to say it's the framing forme too. I'd love to see a stark black background, with the details a little crisper, and the lighting a touch more dramatic. try a vert pinstripe 1/5 of the way in on each side. that would help redistribute the void for the mind's eye.

Thanks for fixing the link Randy :)
Thanks for your comments and time guys, much appreciated. I will go back to it and experiment with background/framing and perhaps add a rose between her teeth to make a 'bit more going on to excite people' Sam lol. I see what you mean though, I can see it is boring. When I vote it is the suitablility as a desktop that I question last- would I want it on mine? Very often the answer is never in a million years but often I still give a high mark as I have considered all the other aspects (hopefully) as well. (Personally I would rather have Michealangelo's David on mine :) and I have a very nice shot of him I may post, if it gets past the sensor)
Back to the drawing board :) :)

I remember giving it a high vote, since I like it. I have no problems with the framing. What I do not like, are big, colorful framings. Maybe some people were not happy, with the lady wearing no bra ... who knows this days?

I would be happy, seeing you in my galerie. Today I've posted Learn how to dance

Yup, great shot, but the framing is the downfall. I don't mind the gradient, but it's a bit to harsh for me. Congrats for getting this shot without tourists...I was there this summer and I think I had a panic attack...after about 3 hours wandering around, I couldn't get out of there any faster!!!

Every day you may make progress. Every step may be fruitful. Yet there will stretch out before you an ever-lengthening, ever-ascending, ever-improving path. You know you will never get to the end of the journey. But this, so far from discouraging, only adds to the joy and glory of the climb. - Churchill

Just click on Hottrockins link instead.

I'd have waited for Lyn to respond but I beleive she's busy being torn apart by chihauhaus as we speak.

I am back . . . . limping and suffering - Chihauhaus sure can fight, but I gave them what for. Camerama will understand - I had plenty of practice fending off the tourists all wanting to get a look at a woman with no arms. Actually, I think the Chihuahuas did it, they are partial to arms, in fact I am one armed now, so my pictures will deteriorate even more. I have decided to give up on sculpture pics. My Lion Monument one which I also liked has been archived. There I was, travelling round the world on a mission, and then the results get archived. Boo Hoo.
:)
Oops - I forgot about the aforementioned David. Maybe, maybe not. At least he has arms, amongst other atributes. Pity help him if the Chihuahuas get near him.
