The computer generated graphics leave me cold so I don't think I can vote fairly on them. Why not allow people to opt out of voting on categories? As it is, I routinely give every computer-art picture a 5, trying not to either knock it down or raise it up, but that isn't a fair way to evaluate the work of the people who make them and enjoy them.
Sorry but this gets brought up every week and there are so many discussions on it, here are a couple of the more recent threads regarding the voting voting and again also suggest looking in the Elephand Graveyard Thread there are many many more there.
The idea of various and random voting is to give ALL the different art the same amount of viewing and voting... and I cant see why you cant vote on them by looking at the design and colours.. i'm sure you can see if that particular image has a lot of detail or not and if you like the colour.. just my opinion.. (and yes I tell the computer artists the same thing when they complain about voting on photography) as for voting a 5 thats good at least your honest and are not blatently voting 0 like some people do because that isnt there genre of art... so for the voting of 5 on behalf of the computer generated artists we thankyou..

On PhotoSIG, a photography site, voting includes comments. You have to give reasons for your vote. There are advantages and disadvantages. The anonymity of voting on CAEDES is a plus, the requirement for full screen viewing is a big plus, the lack of comment is a minus in that you have no idea what criteria are used to give the rating. A photo can be of a wonderful subject and poorly shot, or perfectly shot and unpleasant esthetically. Without comments you never know why the vote is what it is. BUT, if the idea is to have pleasing desktop backgrounds that folks want to download, just the popularity of the work is a valuable thing in itself.
I did time on Methane IV. The guards were brutal. The breathing was difficult and painful but after my term was up, I STILL was fractose intolerant.
i for that idea of being able to provide a comment with your vote because when you think about the c-index: if your c-index is a 26 for example, well then at least one person had to give you a 1 for it to average to that. now when i see that number, i curious: "why did you give it a one?" having the ability to comment while voting would clear up my confusion as to why i got what i got.
