Got a bit bored today and decided to do a little tutorial on how you can convert an old PC into a "digital photo frame", or more accurately a slideshow display PC - How to create your own digital photo frame (PC).
This would make more sense to me if you were able to hook up several "photo frames" (ie monitors) to the same PC and have them displaying different slide shows... is that a simple thing to do?
Well, it shouldn't be too difficult to do. All you would need is that your PC should have a graphics card that supports multiple monitors. Most of the newer once (3-5 years old) should support at least two. In most cases one uses a normal VGA connector and the second one uses DVI (so you'll also need a LCD that supports DVI).
Then you will need software running that will support the multiple monitors and allow a slideshow to run on each. The best and most highly recommended software for this would be Ultramon, but you will have to pay $39.95 for it.
Doing a quick Google search I also came across this Multishow that seems as if it will be able to do run a slideshow on both monitors. You just run the program twice for each monitor. Best of all it's free.
That'll work, but in this day and age that is such a low tech - last season approach. You should definitely get with the times Keifer, at this rate I'm sure you are still using those things called "pen and paper"! ;-P
I was thinking of doing some kinda slide show on the inside of my computer glasses then do the same on the PC...sync them and have stereo vision. Or maybe the Oakley audio sunglasses and have Dolby 5.1 surround sound along with the slide show.
I would rather live my life as if there is a God and die to find out there isn't, than live my life as if there isn't and die to find out there is.
