Well, this might be relatively late, but you guys should definitely be on the lookout for comet Mcnaught. It's one of the most stunning comets I've ever seen. Depending on your location it could still be viewable for the next couple of days. It's relatively close to Venus after sunset (S - SW direction).
The tail is amazing to see. Just a pity I didn't have any equipment that I could use to take a few shots of it.
I would rather live my life as if there is a God and die to find out there isn't, than live my life as if there isn't and die to find out there is.

Where are you located? As far as I know it's now only visible in the Souther hemisphere at this stage. If you can find Venus in the sky then it's roughly about 1 1/2 hands (held horizontally and at arms length) to the left of Venus.
It looks kinda like a Boeing with an exhaust trail behind it. :-P
I'm just peeved that it was cloudly for most of the week, so I only caught it as it was getting further away. At it's closest approach it was suppossedly visible in daylight! Would have loved to see that.

Well, the comet is leaving us with a lot of memories. Those that live in the southern hemisphere got the real show as the ball of ice burnt rapidly as it rounded the sun. Apparently this comet will not produce any meteor showers like so many do. What really surprises me is how so many missed this comet. I was hoping more images would come of it, especially in this digital age.
to be fair - it receveived very little publicity unlike hale bop and halleys comets - both of which recieved much hype on the news for the public but were far less impressive to see.
True Phil, those comets got the publicity for the simple fact that they have a history of returning. There is no way of knowing how bright a comet will get in the vicinity of our sun. It will probably be the most spectacular comet in my lifetime. Will it return?
I tried every day/night, but I guess it didn't wanna make much of an appearance here in Fresno (can u blame it?). So for t ose of you who saw it, you are lucky. :-(
