Well I broke my right elbow today, and it is in a half-cast. I'll see the ortho-surgeon at 9am tomorrow about reconstructive surgery...anyway, typing is not easy atm, so...if'n you don't see me, you know why. Anyway, I'm stoned off morphine (and the dang arm STILL hurts)...so I am off to bed. I'll check in as I can...so my Caedes friends, wish me luck, and keep these threads jumpin.
I'm outta here.

Ahhh..Jenn, you poor thing! When you can, let us know how you are doing and how that elbow is doing as well. Did you fall? I will say a prayer for you. Luck is wished xoxo
Do you really think that they will let you rest? Tell hubby that he can do the dishes....I am so sorry to hear about reconstructive surgery. One more time I will say..if you only lived closer by.....

Well, my hubby says to tell everyone that we were having wild nookies, but the truth is, I was volunteering in the kids class, and someone left a kid chair where it didn't belong...and I managed to find it by backing into it then falling backwards over it and landing with my body on my arm...my arm popped and I knew I was screwed.
Or, like Les said, someone went after my tiramisu and I elbow dropped said person in defense of my precious.
Well, I gotta tell you that I really like the idea that you were having wild monkey sex better, but hey, I'm just weird that way. :D What're the docs gonna do ? Put you back together with some screws ?

ok, so i did my pre-op testing, and theyy said to come in at 8:30am tuesday. depending on if they can reconstruct the bone, or if they'll have to remove it, the surgery will take about an hour, so it's a same day thingy...kinda like a drive-thru...would you like fries and a soda with your elbow...so then after being wrapped for 4-6 weeks, i do phys therapy...the moral of the story here...
your kids 100 days of school celebration is not all that its cracked up to be. given the opportunity to celebrate, it may be safer to pass.
Hi,my name is Rob..ok, so I'm not the greatest at replies and comments. Sorry. For anyone needing to contact me, my email is back up in my profile. >> my cluttered mess of a gallery
I will think of you on Tuesday. I hope that your surgeon is talented and has a steady hand and a sober body. Remember in physical therapy, sometimes it hurts more before it gets better but don't give up and go when you are suppposed to go even if it hurts. MY thoughts and prayers are with you!!
thanks for the well wishes, and the beer. i'm willing to trade for someones cold/flu...i mean its quite a deal. i'll take all the boogers, you get all the drugs...helluva deal folks...
so i am out of surgery, back at home, and missing part of my elbow...yes, they removed the bone. so it hurts like a *expletive deleted*, and my drugs aren't doing much...so if you don't see me for a few days, i'll be lying in the corner in fetal position crying like a baby...otherwise, i'm doing ok, and miss all the mayhem here.

i'm not sure what hurts more, my arm or my pride...i am not one used to sitting back and not doing anything, but i am learning...it took spilling milk, breaking a dish, and various other mishaps....but now rob is tcb and i am sitting on my butt mad that i can't do it...
next time i decide to shatter a limb, i need to plan better and not fubar the dominant limb.
so i am pouting, but doing well. my follow up is this thursday, and i'll see where it goes from there. i miss y'all, but it's a pain (in more ways than one) to get online...thanks for the well wishes...kisses to the girls and a goosin to curt...and someone bake me up a batch of cookies for les...

*snicker* I sympathize… I'm not a good patient either, I hate not being able to do things for myself. On the other hand, I'll glad accept an offer to do my dishes any day of the week.
Hmm ... *thinks to himself* ... not a bad fit. Not sure about the french hosiery, but ... ahhh well. All for a good cause.
Just hope Jenn has forgiven me for tying her down. Most likely, I would say ... in that pic of her and Terri she seemed to be smiling. Yes, yes ... some good ol' fun, no worries.
I hope the doctor doesn't yell at you too badly tomorrow hon... what the heck, it was only a stitch or two, right ? No biggie ! :D The next time you need to fill a tire find some kid to do it !!
Let us know the latest news tomorrow hon... <<<hugs>>>
Ohhh, I am sure you will mess something up ... give it some time ... a pair of flip flops ... another school day with the little rugrats ... walking and trying to chew gum at the same time. :oP
ok...so i'll upload pix later for those brave enough...
the splint is off, the cut is exposed, my arm is very swollen and sore...i am not allowed to use it, but i am supposed to let it hang so that gravity will straighten it out. i start pt on feb 2...i am not looking forward to pt. they say i should get 80-90% of my range of motion and strength back, but my arm will never be 100%.
folks are urging me to sue the school...but thats not really my way...but...i will also never be able to hold anything heavier than a grocery sack...so i just dont know...thoughts, advice for me...
i'm gonna take some pain meds and go to bed, but if i get a chance to upload it tomorrow, i'll link the x-rays and pix of my elbow...to me the elbow looks gross, but the xrays are wicked cool.
X-rays are my specialty field Jenn...I will wait impatiently.;)) Glad the news wasn't worse about the elbow. That gravity thing really works but is tough to do at times. Hang in there kid...(pardon the pun ;=)
ok...haven't had a chance to upload pix...read the surgery report...it said...
**don't read if you're squeemish**
at incision there was an outpouring of blood and bone...gross!! then they took multiple fragments to a back table to attempt to reassemble the bone...not good, when you need a whole other table to try to put humpty dumpty back together again!!! so then they said the hell with it and removed all bone fragments, cut down the jagged arm bone, filed it smooth and removed some ligaments...thank god i was out cold for this--ouch!!!
**for the wimps, you can now read again**
i began pt, with my therapist telling me that she can't do anything until we get the lymphodema in my arm down, and her prognosis is only 75-80% recovery, which made me sad. so that's where things are at the moment.
I hope you are feeling much better. Physical therapy sometimes can hurt more before it feels better. SORRY but its true. I would still not rule out suing the school. It may not be your way but if you are not going to heal 100% and they are responsible, then you may as well at least have some money for all the pain and suffering that you are enduring. You have to learn new ways of doing things and your arm is the way it is due to their negligence. It is not selfish. It is due you as I see it.
You do have to keep in mind that suing the school would mean the school has less money... meaning the kids have a worse education... well, you get my drift. just keep these things in mind. Hope you're feeling better.
actually i found out that this is covered under their workman's comp, and any punitive damages are covered under their insurance which they are required to carry...so i don't feel so bad about it...especially since the pain is intense and physical therapy will be a slow, painful process. i'm not out to be greedy, but it helps that these bills will be covered.
Thanks for the update on your healing. Workers Comp is a good thing. Keep a diary and monitor and record your recovery. Painful days, what you used to be able to do that you cant, etc. Knowing that those bills will be covered takes away some pain doesnt it??
Thanks for the update Jenn......isn't it scary to read your own Op report? t didn't hurt me to read yours though :)...thanks for sharing part of it with us! Take good care of yourself ;=)
well folks...i have been complaining of wrist pain for some time now...and now...a second set of xrays has confirmed...my wrist was dislocated in the fall (and there are possibly torn tendons as well)...so, i will be seeing a hand surgeon, and possibly have surgery done on my wrist. i'll let y'all know. as for my elbow...rehab is killing me. love my physical therapist as a person...but on the clock...i wanna beat her butt something good!!! ouch!!
I'm outta here.
