Archiving order

I had thought that images got archived according to time spent in the new images gallery. So, a newer post would be archived later than an older post. (This is ignoring the possibility of images being added to the permanent galleries.)

I guess this isn't so since I've just noticed that one of my images has been archived even though I've got lots of older images which have not yet been archived. Is this just random or is there some method here I'm missing?

This isn't really a complaint, although I do think it generally makes sense to archive older postings first. I just would like to know how it works.

As the "installed base" of images grows ... +Mods need to maximize their time spent viewing images at any level ... and are developing\evolving techniques to save themselves time

The "charter" mission statement of this site has been to assemble a collection of "desktop quality" images, worthy of taking home to Momma at Christmas dinner ... those guidelines have been "skirted" for quite some time .. and the gene pool has been mired with the brine of high tide

.... or something

Any image can be archived/promoted after a give time. Some image mods start from the end of the new images, some start from the images at the begining of the set time. Some work one sub-gallery at a time, some image mods go through all the new images regardless of the sub-gallery. Also an image mod may not complete their archiving/promoting in a single day, due to various reasons such as person business, eye strain... etc...

The work of art may have a moral effect, but to demand moral purpose from an artist is to make him ruin his work. (Johann Wolfgang von Goethe - 1832)

what's REALLY cool is when you get a +Mod war .. and one of the delegates wants something 'permed' and another doesn't ...

oooh oooh wheee ... the pixels fly back and forth .. favorite camera settings or program features coveted by one are impugned by the other ...

of course, I've just heard this second hand .. might not be true

Thanks. It's nice to know everything is so well-organised by a coherent team cooperating for the greater good...

Actually, it makes more sense today since all my other images have been archived, too, seemingly without prejudice. (Slight exaggeration: some aren't old enough and one seems not to have been archived? If it doesn't have a "*" and the gallery no longer starts "new images" does that mean it is in a _real_ gallery?! That would be very exciting, even if the mistake is corrected soon!)

What would you suggest? And, what is the address of Caedes's bathroom so I know where to send it? Do fractals like anything in particular?
