Boolean Operations in Bryce

Does anyone know how to do boolean operations in Bryce 5? Specifically, I am trying to "cut" one shape out of another. I looked at the tutorial, and it said if you intersect a "positive" object with a "negative" one, the area where the neg intersects the pos will be removed; I tried this several times, but when I rendered the scene looked exactly the same as it did when both objects were neutral (ie solids). What am I doing wrong?

I think you have to link the objects...

The work of art may have a moral effect, but to demand moral purpose from an artist is to make him ruin his work. (Johann Wolfgang von Goethe - 1832)

You mean linking one to the other as a parent? I did just try that, but it didn't seem to make any difference. If that isn't what you meant please let me know, this is really irritating me! :-)

you have to group the objects and then make the group positive. (after you do what uv already done tho).

you have 2 objects - one that you wanna see, one that you wanna cut out. Take the one u wanna see and make it positive. Take the other and make it negative. Group em together. Make the group positive.

What do you mean by group them together? You mean make one the parent?

OK i figured out how to group them, and made the group positive. It didn't seem to make any difference though...

Never mind, I got it to work. I think it was because it selected the ground plane too. Thanks! Now I must go and waste more hours in Bryce with my new knowledge...
