high color images

Hello,

I have a request: does anyone know where I can get high color or true color images? Basically, anything with more than 8-bits per color (8-bits for monochrome, 24-bits for color). I need them for a school project.

Thank you,
Anna.

most images are either 8 or 16 bit at most - there isnt normally a need for any more than that in everyday use - whats the project about?

Basically finding out how much info is lost when only 8 bits are used.

optically - none. I know from a commerical aspect, 16 bit is only used when the need for incredibly smooth gradients such as in fleshtones or vignettes appears on a job. often you can retouch an image in 16bit and then convert back down to 8 with no apparent loss. If you - or your school has a RAW processing software tool you can try this yourself. process the image as 16bit from RAW data and then convert back to 8.

If you like, I can send you a picture (middle exposed so the sky isn't blown out and the ground isnt too dark). It has green grass, grey clouds, and a blue patch at the top. It's similar to my second to last upload - 'Sunday's Trip.'

24 bit depth
2014x3039px
In JPEG format

Comes free with a copyright release. =P Anyway, the only problem with this photo is the ground may be slightly dark for your needs. Also, the colors are pretty normal, blue and green being the main colors. There isn't much color 'detail' like 'flesh tones'.

PS: I've just taken a few photos of flowers (blue, yellow, pink). I'll give you those too if you need. (Btw, from the in camera previews, i think i'm pretty good at flower shots). =P I may have to post one.

Thank you, .noahnott, I think I'll be fine. I'll talk to a professor.

As an alternate project, you could compare the 'quality' (tonal/dynamic range/resolution) between B&W film and B&W digital; color film and color digital.
