Same here. Keep in mind still life is not my forte, so I am not speaking from experience, just pointing out what I think could be improved but not implying I could have done it myself...
Many Thanks to all who commented, your remarks are very appreciated and useful. I will work on a "Tea Time Mark II" and try to put in practice your suggestions.
I also agree with the comment that photo is sparse and lacking background. Something I had omitted to say is that the photo is the result of an assignment "still life with three object" on light and composition.
seems to me a blank background is perfectly acceptable, if not desirable. What you DON'T want is a background that is going to detract from the subject or pull the viewers eye away from the subject. that's why I didn't care for the line going across the top. If it was uniform - boards or wall, there's no chance of distracting the viewer.
