Anybody else have this problem? I can get os 10 installed, but when it tries to restart, it first loads the screen from about OS 9 with that happy mac face, then it restarts. It repeats this process forever... I have tried almost everything i can think of.
Any ideas? Thanks!
I have OS X on a Biege G3 minitower and on the B&W G3.
Do you have SCSI hard drives? OS X doesn't like those SCSI PCI cards. I went and got me an 80 GB Western Digital, ATA -133 with 8 mb cache, for @ $80 after rebate. Western Digitalsl or Seagates are Mac-bootable.
If you use both types of hard drives it will still do that........ I suggest holding down the option key when you start up and select OS 9 to start up from the SCSI and save everything you can before installing the IDE drive, because you will have to pull the SCSI drives and the PCI card if you plan on using OS X.
Having both types of drives installed at the same time doesn't work right. If it gets through the boot up in OS X, it will freeze up shortly.
Even on the Blue & White G3, I had to pull the SCSI drives and card because of problems related to the SCSI PCI card. Updating the SCSI card's firmware doesn't help either. Once I removed the SCSI cards and drives, they have ran great on OS X.
well i took the SCSI card out and put in an IDE HDisk, and same thing happened....I dont know what to do. The only possible thing left is the video card.. right?
TB-- You have to open the case and hit the reset button, then start it up and boot from the OS X CD and do a clean install. You will have to reset the time and date.
Any ideas? Thanks!
