Anyone know the best DPI to scan a photo with?? My lexmark says 72 for being seen as webpage/on screen.is this high enough or is 300 better??? Merci.Alain

300 is better, but 72 might be ok anyways. Give them both a try and see what you like. When starting a new file in photoshop it defaults to 72 for printing. It all depends on what kind of resolution you want.

304.8/inch or 120/cm is the default resolution for print for optical high resolution, any more is technically superfluous unless you are scanning line art. 72 is screen resolution default for the web or lo resolution FPO files for print. on scanners - colour density - often represnted by a numeral followed by a D is more important than ultra high resolutions. the higher the D number - the better.
