I added a picture a few minutes ago. It was on my Control panel and in New images gallery. Then i came back to it and now it isn't here. I was wondering why it got deleted. The picture was Lake Como sepia, i Photography - Landscape.

It looks like you may have accidently deleted it. I have added it back to your gallery.

How come in my gallery the thumbnail for Are You Ready? doesn't show up but instead it says 'The image that was supposed to be here is from caedes.net and the chihuahuas are coming to get you' but if you click on it you can see the sketch? What's wrong with the thumbnail? I haven't received any PM's or see anything in my control panel to suggest a problem.

That's hotlink protection coming into play. It shouldn't show up in your gallery though, only if someone tries to embed it into another site.

sounds like a cookie issue .. the site doesn't recognize you as being you

I'm not sure I feel comfortable vouching for you either .. the Pat I know is a rock solid, unflinching, pillar of the community that wouldn't panic so quickly

what's your mother's maiden name?

Well, I might have known a couple of wise-crackers would show up, lol...so Jerry, your father was General Electric?...well I'll be a monkey's uncle!...oh and Keith, re: my mothers' name, that would be 'maiden Canada'...now to address the only sensible person here, thank you KJ, yes, I've seen that chihuahua thing and about hotlinking somewhere on the site before but as you say, it's funny it shows up in my gallery...I certainly didn't try to hotlink myself but suddenly I feel like my own worst enemy...is there some way to get rid of it?

Edit: Hurray, my thumbnail is back! Thank you to whoever fixed it. "Bob's your uncle".

I just realised the link between that image and the non-embedding protection.

Why does this happen:
1) open the information page for an image;
2) do something else for a while (look at something else, make a cup of tea - whatever);
3) now try to open a full screen view;
4) observe the warning image?

The waiting time seems to vary, so if it doesn't do that, you may not have waited long enough.

For some reason, the site fails to recognise itself? Is that what's going on? Or am I just hopelessly confused?

Or both?

I would guess .. possibly .. your "session" timed out

or .. it is something due to the NEW way that the site is serving images from before ..

as explained in the news article on the front page .. images are no longer being generated and stored in the various sizes .. they are being chisled from marble on the fly .. whatever doesn't look like an elephant is dust on the floor

It's not new.

I don't know about my "session" but I'm definitely logged it. If I wanted to post a comment on the info page, that would work fine. (I could then get the full view since the page refreshes after posting, but that's not the right order to do it in!)
