I have been using ( trial version ) it instead of the raw browser-converter in PS2 and so far it works fine ( a lot more options ) but i needs some getting used to .
i think i really like it. it addresses some issues (for me) better than anything else i've tried. i saw that there's another one "lightzone" but i can't spend all my time just checking out programs. lightroom works beautifully on jpegs as well as raw. i've been trying to shoot raw but for me cs2 raw converter is not easy. thanks for answering.
Lightroom is essentially a RAW processing and workflow application like Apples Aperture or PhaseOne's CaptureOne - you can add Lightzone to it to make it fully 'retouchable' as well - see this thread.
'Adobe has updated its Photoshop Lightroom workflow to version 1.1. Now including support for multiple computer workflows, assisting photographers with one more than one workstation, Adobe has also made improvements to the Noise Reduction and Sharpening algorithms. Windows Vista compatibility has arrived with certification for 32-bit editions and there is support for the latest major digital camera releases, including the Canon EOS-1D Mark III; Fuji FinePix S5 Pro; Nikon D40x; Olympus E-410 and SP-550 UZ; Ricoh Caplio GX 100; Sigma SD 14 and the Phase One H 20, H 25, P 20, P 21, P 25, P 30, and P 45.'
thanks for the info. i bought the program and have gotten notices of updates but i'm so far behind in so many things. half the things you listed are not even understood by me.
