Removing Color Abberation

Is there a way in photoshop to remove color abberation? Reason being is that I'm discovering that my longer lense (Sigma 70-300mm F4-5.6 DG MACRO) gets some color abberations at the longer focal points. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

If you shoot in Raw there should be a Tab in the RAW-converter that deals with aberrations . ( but don't expect wonders )

do you mean lens fringing (red, blue or green halos)? if so there is a filter in Photoshop for lens corrections and it is part of those tools.

You could use PTLens
The license is $15. Not very expansive... :-)
And you'll find a PS plug-in.

unfortunately, I haven't been shooting in RAW, but I'll give it a try!

I'm not exactly sure regarding lens fringing or color aberration now that you mention it. I have thought they were one and the same :S I'll try the filter out and see how it goes!

Perhaps I'll give PTLens a try if nothing else works. It's definately a whole lot cheaper than getting a new lense that's for sure! $15 compared to $300-$1000!

In Photoshop. If you don’t have Photoshop then apply the same principle with whatever editor you use.

First bring your image to 100 percent view (Pixel for Pixel) and move the image until you can see the purple fringe.

1, Create a Hue / Saturation layer.
2, Change from Master to Magentas
3, Slide the Saturation control left to about –70
4, Slide the Lightness control left until what used to be the purple fringe is least noticeable.

That’s it. Easy after you have done it a few times.

the filter can be found at:

Filter>>Distort>>Lens Correction

within that there is a chromatic aberration correction function as well as perspective and barrel distortion fixes.
