I feel the need to point out the kindness and generosity of kjh000, better known as Klas.
As many of you might know, I had a son in November 2005 who was born 3 months premature. He spent many good and bad days in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at our local hospital. After we made through that life-altering experience, my wife and I were asked to be on the NICU Family Advisory Board. Our NICU FAB helps to support families with premature or sick newborns in the NICU. To help raise money we participated in a local charity event called "Run Four The Money." Our participation included a booth for the final days festivities. Our booth was among 105 other organizations so we had to stand out to garner support from the community. To that end, I sent a personal message to Klas and asked if I could use his "Love In A Different Light" as our marquee image for the posters that would front our booth. Klas kindly said yes. The posters brought in a lot of people to our booth and helped us raise money and awareness to support our mission to buy meals for families with newborns in the NICU, give families preemie take home clothes, host a large NICU reunion, and help cover funeral expenses for babies that don't make it home.
I thought I should recognize Klas for his generosity and also point out the power of the Caedes community.
Robert, this is such a heart-warming story and as you pointed out, the Caedes community spreads far and wide, and in cases such as this has helped a good and worthy cause. I applaud you, and Klas.
My own granddaughter spent time in a NICU unit here in NZ
in August 2005,and I understand the wonderful work they do.
Thank you also for leading me to Klas's beautiful picture which I had not seen before.
Best wishes to you both
Eve
That is a wonderful cause... My daughter was 3 months premmie and only weighed 2 pound 19 years later she's a healthy beautiful young woman, with no health problems... so I know what you are going through... many months in hospital.. never ending checkups.. but premmie babies are such sweet precious little angels.. keep up the wonderful crusade they need people like you..
I always knew he was a standup guy .. and I have often said so to anybody who would listen .. in line at the grocery store, pumping gas .. even while getting a speeding ticket
All were impressed as I recounted his deeds
though, I still got the ticket
(I was born a month early .. and missed the draft because of it)
*that's the first image I've noticed go into "overflow mode" commentwise
Klas is a cool guy and anyone who has a preemie baby holds a special place in my heart. There is plenty of room for you there Robert & Eve. Klas is already there :)
Congratulations on the success of your booth and BRAVO to both you and Klas...a wonderful story...thanks for sharing it and all the best to your little one in the future.:Pat.
i went into labor at 32 weks...with any baby, that is too early, with twins i was told they may not be able to save them both. luckily, with heavy medications, i left the hospital 3 days later, in labor...stayed that way for 5 more weeks (yup, 5 weeks of labor), but thanks to tributeline (sp?) every 4 hours, my twins were born at 37 weeks. i give props to you, as i was almost a preemie mom, and it was the scariest damn time in my life...especially hearing that they may not be able to save both kids. robbie had trouble regulating his temp, and stayed in an incubator for 4 days...which was tough, as i was only allowed to hold him briefly for feedings, then back into the incubator. so i don't know 100% what preemie parents go through, i have a fair idea. so i applaud you both for helping other families.
ps-- that is an awesome image, thank you for bringing it to my attention.
