Why dont we have an "OBJECTS" gallery ?
A lot of thing could be included;
Architectural objects: Street lights,Door handles etc.
Signs :Street signs:Warning signs etc.
Home objects:Spoons,Light bulbs,clock etc.
Personal objects:Watches,Braclets etc.

(Things which are excluded from MACRO gallery.)

What do u think ?

That is a pretty wide catagory and too general, in my opinion. Most of the stuff you mentioned can easily fit into a gallery we already have, or they are usually only secondary subject matter and not the main focus of an image.

I mean the objects which are in focus.
Lets say. OBJECTS>URBAN OBJECTS:A shot of a streetlight,placed in the middle of the canvas.

And which catagory would be suitable,if not objects? (i am asking to see another viewpoint)

It would go into the "city" gallery.

I dont think it is a "City" pic.I suppose it is an "Urban Object".When said city i imagine a city,not an object precisely.And i think there are a lot of objects that wouldnt fit into its own gallery and would rather be in an objects gallery sharply.Just like a Candle shot being in the Holidays gallery.
But i think i am alone on this thought so i wont insist much.

Personally I think the number of galleries is beginning to get a bit high. One day we are going to have 10,000 galleries each with one picture in it... ;-)

IMO the galleries should just be a tool to ai navigation; unless a number of people need the gallery to be able to assist them in finding images on a fairly regular basis, it shouldn't be necessary. I think even some of the galleries we have now are not needed. Having more may make it more difficult to find particular images, rather than easier...

Look at it like a library or music store and it makes sense;-) Only one that doesn't fit is the general gallery in my opinion. Which don't fit for you Samatar?

I think it is a good idea and not just about an object gallery (I cant think of any others right now but) I have found myself uploading an image and not knowing where best to put it. Good idea.

Liquidguitar, if you are not sure, then put it in the "General" gallery and we, the ImageMods, will figure where it goes .

There isn't really one that doesn't fit, but the more galleries ther are the more difficult it makes it to decide where it should go, and therefore to find where it is. For example, say I have a photo of a boat on the ocean, with the sun about to set. Does it go in "Sunrise/Sunset"? Or "Water"? Or "Landscape"? "Transportation"? "Nature"? "Skies?" If I remove part of a building in the foreground, do I put it under "Manipulation" perhaps?... Now I'm not saying it happens alot, but the more galleries there are the more difficult it becomes, especially if the categories often overlap. You gave the example of a library, but a library has a fairly strict system of categorisation; we just file images based on our own individual feelings about it.

All I'm saying is that a gallery should be created only if there is a genuine need for it. Most of the galleries we have now are there because several individuals requested them over a period of a few months, but more recently galleries have been added after only one or two days because one person thought it was a good idea, and a few others agreed. All the decisions that have been made so far are good ones, but it shouldn't get out of hand. Personally it doesn't bother me, I think I have looked at just about every image available on the site anyway... ;-)

Compared to other online photography and desktop sites, this one actually has few categories. I think its doing pretty well. ex:

Wallpapers.com 54 categories
Snap-Shot.com photography only yet it has 7 main categories, each with about 20 sub-categories, and they still feel the need for an "Other" section

Organization is good. Think about if you had to submit to one of these other sites...

Exactly. Those are examples of the sort of thing I think we should avoid.

I also think that more catagories can make things a lot more complicated like samatar mentioned,but what i think Objects gallery is a Main Catagory,not sub;not a catagory which must be considered to have or not,but the site is doing very well on Catagoties as it is,i am pleased by that,i just thought that it could give other catagories a bit of room to breath...Thanks for your attention guys... ;)
