Quote: ... We're proud and excited to announce that Dpreview has been acquired by the worlds leading online retailer, Amazon.com.

Started as hobby site in 1998, dpreview.com has grown to be the number one destination for anyone interested in digital cameras and digital photography. Each month dpreview.com has seven million unique visitors (over 22 million sessions) who read over 120 million pages.

"We've worked very hard over the last eight years to deliver consistently high quality content to our readers", founder Phil Askey said. "It will be fantastic to be able to expand and build on that without compromising our quality or independence. With the support and resources of Amazon we can achieve this."

Dpreview.com will continue to function as a stand-alone operation based in London

(*wipes tear*) .. they say that "All roads lead to Rome" .. well, soon, all retail links at DPreview will lead to Amazon.com

That was my first thought too - they often have many options as sales leads with different consumer reviews of the retailers so I’m doubting that little nugget of independence will remain intact.

Unless of course Amazon deliberately undercuts the prices of any of the listed competitors?

That way, everybody wins!

That relationship is likely to compromise Dpreview’s independence. Perhaps I’m cynical too, but time will tell.

Well all im all that is good Busines. Develpoe something and hope some one comes along and buys you out at an outrages price. I just hope that they don't distroy the concept.

Art is the perception of the creator. Meaning is the perception of the viewer. acceptance is the perception of society.
