Hi all! I'm a browser of this site and I pick up a lot of the images to use as my desktop or, dare I say it, myspace background (actually, I should add in some credit for it, sorry all!).
I'm beginning to take a lot of photo's at gigs and I'm trying to improve but I wasn't sure what people's stance here is of concert photographs as I couldn't see any in any of the photography section. Should I upload my better ones?
if the concert in question allows photography at the event then I wouldnt have thought there would be any copyright issue at all - im pretty sure people have uploaded similar shots in the past here.
lostphil, are you saying you use images from this site as your myspace background? if so, you should be asking the author of the image first. not doing so is a big no-no. sorry in advance if I misunderstood.
I take photo's at concerts and I've never had a problem, lots of people take them.. as for posting, I can't see why you can't, it's not as if its been taken from another site, it doesn't have a copywritten logo.. and it's your actual photography..
oh and what Rob (third eye) said, you MUST ask the artist permission to use the art on myspace or whatever as THEY are copywritten.. We roam the internet looking for images that doesn't have permission to use them, so I suggest that you quickly ask the artists that your using for permission.. and when you do ALWAYS give the artist the credit and maybe a link to their Caedes gallery.. =)
some concert acts/promoters forbid photography at events so that they can retain copyright on any and all footage that can be used later for commercial reasons - that is what I was referring to.
Apologies for the myspace background, it's why I mentioned it as I wasn't sure. I will try and track down the artist in question in a minute.
Ok, I'll upload a couple of pics when I get a chance to rate some others. I hope you enjoy them, although I don't have an SLR or anything fancy so the quality might not be up to scratch...
I'm having difficulty finding the image on here. If I post my myspace link, would someone be kind enough to help me find the artist without giving me a stern telling off (as I do want to right my wrong...)?
EDIT: To save all the trouble, I'm going to remove the image and replace it with one of my own when I get home.
Would it be worth suggesting a keyword search for the site? I only seem to be able to search names.
the wallpaper search on the leftside navigation menu will search for keywords used in the title or description .. though it's not perfect
there's half a chance you didn't rename the image and it still retains the artist name .. so, rightclicking on the image in your MYSPACE domain and choosing "properties", will say .. "http://photobucket.com/lostphil-100937732.jpg" ... with "lostphil" being the person you are looking for
that was, of course, a very crude example
but .. feel free to give us your MYSPACE address .. we'd love to read all the "let's hook up sometime" comments trailing down the scrollable regions of HTML Heaven
:o)
EDIT: .. geeze, it doesn't pay to leave a firefox tab sitting idle, while you take the dog for a walk
Hahaha, well unfortunately I don't have too many "lets hook up sometime" comments. But some of my photo's are in my blog on there if you want a gander. Only a couple are decent enough for me to upload here though. http://www.myspace.com/lostphil
Good idea about the image name, found the artist, but they do not exist apparently so I'll still take the image down tonight.
