I was just wondering.. because I've seen the same images up there for a while (except for the occasional switch of one)..So, when does an image get registered as old?

I think I set the limit for 'old' as two weeks. So a really good image could theoretically stay up there for 2 weeks.

I was wondering the same thing. Also, when a new image becomes "old", where does it go? Moved into a gallery? Or what?

The designation of old and new is only for the "top new images" list on the main page and has nothing to do with galleries.

Ok, I just realized that when you upload an image, you pick the gallery before hand, then after 2 weeks I'm guessing it leaves "new images" and goes into the gallery you picked when you uploaded it.

So if it is not a "really good image" and doesn't stay on the top new images...does it go into the galleries or does it just go away?

Well, that did answer my question, so now I'm content.

I pretty sure that if an image has low ratings and all that it will just go away.

Some of these questions could be answered by re-reading the bottom of the upload page.

I've never had the problem of photos just vanishing but i'm sure that low ratings or not they'd still be in the New Images Gallery :)
