What do YOU think?

I know the c-index isn't the BEST way to judge a photo, but after getting a 25 I thought I should inquire as to 'why' so low?

Long Exposure + zoom out

Helicopter Tower

Thanks!

Lights

Light-Zooms are interesting to a degree, I used to do them with Christmas trees and interesting signs .. to mixed reviews from the people I showed them to .. zooms are the type of thing that you can do over and over and never perfect .. if perfection is a word to be used for this style

What speaks louder than the c-index, is that NOBODY commented on it since the 21st .. most people will say something supportive .. and the views\dlds ratio isn't the best either

perhaps what you can learn from this, is that a creative photographer is not always rewarded on a desktop-wallpaper site .. people seem to be looking for a certain style (more of the same) that they see other places

I am not suggesting that you NOT post creative works, just that you factor what type of venue you have posted to into your math when determining success\failure

they say that you should produce art to satisfy YOUR soul .. and let the detractors fall by the wayside

Unfortunately Surfer baby is right... it seems the members on here don't look at the creativity of an image, they seem to go for the "normal" which is a shame because there have been some fantastic pieces of work, which is very creative and not the "norm" and have only got 1 or 2 comments and low score..
I like the capture of coloured light, it does look like helicopter propellers...
I just wish people on here would open their eyes and minds more..
please keep posting YOUR style of photos as its a welcoming change to the "usual"

Thanks for your comments, I uploaded this with the understanding that it is not a cute animal or landscape/sunset ;), but that was a small understanding, now it's really enforced in my head thanks to your alls confirmations.

It' possible that some people voting for the image don't understand that it is an unmanipulated photo, perhaps they think you added the "lines" in photoshop or something... personally I found it unique and fascinating.

I, for one, applaud your creativity. This particular piece doesn't do it for me, but I guess it's more a matter of personal taste. I found it to be visually disconcerting, and while I understand the creative process, I guess I couldn't get on-board with this one. Sorry, but perhaps this will give you some insight into the voters and viewers who hadn't commented.

Two thumbs up from me. :o)

'Cool', is most certainly the operative word for your shot.

A most visually intriguing image for this viewer.

Have no idea as to the how you accomplished the capture of the beams (I did read 'long exposure and zoom out' in your initial post) ... the only caveat I have, or perhaps question is better ... and bear in mind, I am a novice to the technique you employed ... why are the beams truncated?

And, forgive me here my innate curiosity ... did you use a tripod and shutter release and/or self-timer?

Some softness in the focus is just visible ... and the light beams themselves do appear to deviate from a straight line.

Just some thoughts.

Final word ... er, words ... I would to really like to see the rest of your shots. Serious.

Might be interesting to change the orientation from portrait to landscape. I find when viewing portrait ... much of the visual impact is lost from the literally smaller size when viewed.

Open her up a bit, as a suggestion ... with another posting/upload and see if that helps garner a little more attention for the image(s).

my guess would be .. the lights were blinking different colors .. and as they hit new places in the frame during the zooming action .. they left new colors

it was an interesting effect

I agree with the horizontal posting .. if not this subject, then another. And you've got July 4th coming up .. you should be planning your angle for that ..

You're right Keith, the lights do change colors :) , thanks for the comments! I'm not sure how many landscapes I have of it, but I'll give it a shot, the area is still new and the security gates remain open as far as I know, I like that tip :)! I shot it with the kit lens 18-70 so soft...yeah...not the BEST glass you can get but better than nothing! :)
